From Napkin Sketch to Innovation: Revolutionizing Portable Suction for Prehospital Care
The Problem
Jeff Boardman, CRO Medical founder (and former Special Operations medic) identified a performance gap in existing suction equipment resulting in an unmet need for portable suction in prehospital care.
Our Approach
We began with a collaborative brainstorming session with Jeff, which literally started on the back of a napkin at a coffee shop. That napkin sketch led to over a year of research and development, which consisted of iterations of design, prototyping, and testing.
The Solution
The R&D process led us to several major technological breakthroughs. These breakthroughs were carried into a formal product development phase resulting in a powerful, portable suction device that is compact, lightweight, and features disposable pump assemblies for simple and clean waste management. CRO was able to file a patent with nine separate claims based on the new technologies we developed together.
Impact
The market has been highly receptive to the high-quality prototypes CRO has been demoing. Dr. James Decanto's positive demo and independent valuations highlight this product's potential. We are now hard at work helping CRO through the manufacturing process to ramp up production.
